Ecology. Flowering time Jul.-Sep. Grassy mountainsides, chalky meadows, forest margins; 30003200 m. Distribution. Southwestern China: Sichuan, Yunnan, Xizang.
Notes. Alexeev (1978) placed this taxon in section Festuca and provided a rubra-like leaf cross section.
