Type: Xizang: Qamdo, alt. 3500m, 22 Sep. 1976. Qinghai-Xizang Complex Exped. (Geobot. Group,) 10014 (Typus, HP).

Vegetative morphology. Culms 60–100 cm tall. Culms strict, erect. Culms internodes glabrous. Culms internodes smooth. Culms nodes 3–4. Sheaths shorter than the internode. Sheaths glabrous. Auricles absent. Ligules 3–5 mm long. Leaf blades linear. Leaf blades flat. Leaf blades 10–20 cm long. Leaf blades 3–5 mm wide. Leaf blades adaxial surfaces with trichomes. Leaf blades adaxial surfaces scabrous. Leaf blades abaxial surfaces with trichomes. Leaf blades abaxial surfaces scabrous.

Floral morphology. Inflorescences loosely open. Inflorescences 18–22 cm long. Inflorescences branches 9–11 cm long. Inflorescences branches at the lowest nodes 3–4 (per node). Spikelets 6–7 mm long. Spikelets greenish, or purplish. Florets 3–5. Glumes with trichomes. Glumes surfaces scabrous. Glumes vestiture on the veins. Glumes apices acute (first glumes). First glume narrowly lanceolate. First glume 2.8–3.2 mm long. First glume 1 nerved. Second glume oblong. Second glume 3.8–4.2 mm long. Second glume 3 nerved. Second glume similar in length to first lemma. Rachilla internodes 0.9–1.1 mm long. Rachilla internodes antrorsely scabrous. Lemmas 4.8–5.2 mm long. Lemmas lanceolate. Lemmas veins 5. Lemmas with trichomes. Lemmas scabrous, or pubescent. Lemmas trichomes over the entire surface. Lemmas upper margins narrowly membranous. Lemmas apices acute. Lemmas apices awns absent. Paleas keels scabrous. Anthers 1.5–2 mm long. Ovary apices glabrous.

Ecology. On grasslands of mountain slopes; 3200–3800 m. Distribution. Southwestern China: Sichuan, Xizang.

Notes. This taxon is unique because it has flat leaves, no awns, and a glabrous ovary. It may belong to an as yet undescribed section.
